Review - eS Theory Mid

Review by: Joey Salem

Price
I got these shoes for a great price, on sale for $31.00 at www.blackholeboards.com I believe it was because this coloraway is discontinued, and there were only 3 sizes left in stock.
For Price, I give this a 10/10.

Looks/Features
This is all about opinion, but I just love the look of these shoes. First of all, the lace protection is what really caught my eye on these. I thought it was a unique look, and would really be convenient, because I tend to rip laces quick. The mid-top feature provided great ankle support and comfort, as well as a great touch to the look of the shoe. The vulcanized sole was great, which means the sole was melted to the shoe, instead of stitched on. It also had a great square pattern on the sole, which provided great grip. I loved the overall design of this shoe, from the toe cap to the back panels, to the red stitches on the side, to the all red sole, everything on this shoe just screamed "delicious".
For the looks and features, I give this a 10/10.

Durability
The durability on this shoe was lack luster in some places. The toe cap held up great, and ripped about 2 weeks into skating them. Although the lace protector started to shred up about a month into skating, it still functioned well and protected my laces. The sole, well, I can't say these held up well. About a month and a half into skating these puppies, I could stick my finger in between the shoe and a hole in the sole, right below where the toe ripped. Eventually, half of the sole just ripped off of my left shoe (I'm regular), which ended all use of these shoes.
For the durability, I give this a 5/10.

Boardfeel/Foot Protection
The boardfeel of these shoes is phenomenal. This, of course, brings some foot pain if you're prone to jumping down sets and gaps. Anything larger than a 4 stair, and you'll feel some pain. After repetitive tries of something down a gap or stair set, you could feel some serious pain.
For the boardfeel, I give this a 8/10
For the foot protection, I give this a 6/10

Skated

Overall
This sexy ass shoe provided amazing boardfeel and comfort, yet it lacked durability and hurt your feet if you go big. If you're more of a manual/ledge grinder, I'd say go for these as soon as possible. If you go big down the sets and handrails, I wouldn't suggest it unless you want to go get some Dr. Scholl's gel soles while you're out.
Overall I would give this shoe an 8/10.
